HI, I’m Lori (she/hers).

As a ballroom dancer I have always admired Ginger Rogers and the quote about her “doing everything backwards and in heels.” It relates to my life in more ways than one. I raised three incredible girls near Seattle before getting my drama degree and beginning an acting career. Backwards maybe, but having daughters makes life magic.

Leaving Seattle for additional theater training and opportunities on the East Coast has pulled me away from my roots but also opened doors to work that inspires me. Now based in Western Massachusetts, I work seasonally in theater education with Shakespeare & Company, directing fledgling performers to “embrace their weirdness and that no matter how hard the situation is, to bring the whole ass (not being half-assed),” as one of my students cleverly expressed it.

But acting is the bliss of my days, having trained at the University of Washington, Freehold Theatre and Shakespeare & Company. I have been fortunate to work with amazing directors, in companies big and small, in many types of roles. Being versatile makes it a delight to play characters that challenge my truthfulness each moment, wanting to be seen as I am and yet allowing audiences to see me as I am not.

You will find me often in the woods. Nature makes me happy, as does traveling and writing. All wrapped up into one package I’d say that I am a nature-loving, theater geek that moves through the world in search of exploration, inspiration and new adventures. Believing that the dreams we live are the hopes that sustain.

“Molly is played with great effect by Lori Evans, an actress known in the region principally through her work at Shakespeare and Company in Lenox, MA. Her approach to this larger than life character is simple and honest. She takes her back to a simple reality: she is who she is. Late in the play she is possessed by the spirit of a woman who might be Emily's mother…and her delivery of that unanticipated reality is absolutely harrowing. A scene that could easily be over the top is, instead, a special sort of reality, honestly played and riveting from beginning to end. I believed every second of it.”
